Jed's Island Resort 05.20.2010

Summer equates to vacation . One way of cooling down during this hot weather is go on swimming. Laguna's hot springs are not on our list for this summer get-away . It is already hot and we do not want to dive in hot water.

While driving thru NLEX and SLEX, we saw several huge posters or billboards of Jed's Island Resort in Bulacan. We checked the Bulacan website and the resort was rated 4.5 stars. We also checked some blogs and Multiply posts and reviews were not that bad. So off we go on a weekday to avoid the crowd.

There were ample parking spaces inside the resort. Bringing in of food and drinks were allowed. Entrance fees were reasonable. Senior Citizen and person with disability have discounts. We got a cottage good for 5-8 persons for Php500. There were giant size statues of super heroes, Disney characters. The resort is colorful and fuschia dominated the color. It reminded me of Bayani Fernando's colored footbridges and fences.

Our cottage was on a stilt and was near a hanging bridge.

The place did not impress me. The adult pool is small and no longer clear. The swan and wave pool have operating hours. The wave at the wave pool is scheduled at 1pm and 3pm only!! WTH..The swan pool which was much bigger but shallower was not yet open at 10am and when it did, it was past lunch already.

We killed time in our cottage and ate lunch before 12nn. We had a short swim after lunch and at around 2pm we packed up (which is not normal for us!). We took few photos and smiled but ,overall , we did not enjoy this resort .

The Bulacan website rated this resort at 4.5 stars but I say 2 stars. I guessed visitors who blogged about this resort were just too modest on their comment or maybe their taste was just so so.... We will not recommend this resort to anyone.

We learned a lesson from this trip...billboards and ads are deceiving.
