UP Activate! Run and Pump it Up
Venue: UP Academic Oval, Diliman
This is my 9th fun run and my daughter's 3rd. I registered for 5k while my daughter registered for 3k. This would be our first time to run on this track. We were used to the pavement of Fort and Mall of Asia and we were excited.
The venue was cool, literally. Lots of trees and greenfields. There were early sunday runners as well. The academic oval is usually closed to traffic on weekend morning because there are so many joggers and bikers.
Anyway, the event started late. There were still on going registration during the race day and this was delaying the start of the 10k. This was a student organized event so we're not expecting too much.
The proceeds of this event would go to the striving coffee farmers of Batangas. The funds would help the farmers procure solar powered water pumping system.
The start/finish line was in front of Palma Hall. It was quite easy to reach the place as long as you know how to ask for directions.
Although my daughter is a UP alumae, she studied in Manila campus and not so familiar with Diliman campus. Luckily, we were able to find a nice parking space.
Gosh I need to pee and sadly, there were only two portalets--one each for male and female. I had to toe the line and by the time my turn came, they were already calling the 5k runners.

To brighten the race, there was a runner dressed as Zorro and he added some comedy to the race. I heard that he even kissed the ground prior to the run.
so off i go...next was the 3k runners. they were only a handful , about 50 runners.
My daughter ran ahead of her group.Since there were only few 3k runners, she's embarrassed to be left behind. Lo and behold, after 50 meters, most of the runners were already walking so she walked. She told me she was just waiting for somebody to walk first before she did.
